My wife, Barbara, had “Dementia of the Alzheimer’s type”.

I was able to care for her at home for approximately eleven (11) years before she passed away.

Besides myself Tonia Axelson was her primary home caregiver for approximately nine (9) years.

Tonia made my caregiving much easier.

I observed Tonia performing her professional caregiving skills efficiently, timely, and safely…, whether it be assisting her with dressing, brushing/flossing teeth, bathroom needs, eating, or dispensing medications.

In addition, her exceptional positive attitude brings far more to her “caring” abilities…., demonstrating patience in every aspect of her assisting Barb.

She was able to deflect Barb’s “no’s” into “yes” with a demeanor that was calm and assuring.

Tonia was respectful and loving of Barb’s individual identity and gave her value with every word and action.

She consistently praised Barb, telling her how well she was doing.

This type of caring over those years clearly made Barb feel needed and loved and provided her with a quality of life that is highly unusual for a person with Barb’s disease.

I would highly recommend Tonia to anyone who is in a need of home health care.

During those years I also had the assistance of several other caregivers.

Tonia was by far the most effective.

I must also say that her sister, Sherry, was also a very good caregiver with Barb.

Note from the editor: Thanks so much George! You've been a kind a true friend, to my mom, Tonia. Your accolades mean a lot!

I was absolutely blessed to have met this family. I worked for another company at the time and was so honored to take care of Barbara. I was given freedom to help develop a care plan with Barbara and her husband George as well as trust to give input on the backup caregivers to be there when I could not. It was a such a joy to go to "work" each day and have such a positive impact in the lives of people who certainly didn't deserve such a devastating illness such as Alzheimer's.

Barbara had such a good quality of life because of the love and care that George constantly displayed.
